From a bustling market and donkey-lined streets to a busy McDonald’s, this city blends old and new. An easy-going beach town vibe has seeped into the city streets despite the presence of a more conservative, traditionally Muslim population. Often a retreat from the heat of the desert, this city also offersthe opportunity to encounter those from unreached towns far beyond its immediate context.

Islam has held a tight grip on this place for centuries, but the city has recently seen an influx of Jesus-followers who love their neighbors and long to seek and save the lost. The Pioneers team is beginning to hear whispers of people opening the Bible and being baptized in secret. They are in the early stages of making disciples, meeting locals hungry to know more about God’s Word and who He is.

▪ Learn the challenges of reaching the unreached. Start with a week-long language study intensive offering insight into language learning challenges. As you go, gain the tools you need to interact with those around you.

▪ Discover what daily life looks like on the field, engaging with the rhythms of the community as your team seeks to make disciples. It may include sea surfing, cups of tea or getting lost as you wander the market.

▪ Grow alongside the long-term team, being intentionally mentored and discipled, seeking discernment as one body, connecting over music, sports or daily life and praying for the unreached.
